Sense of Humor and Manner

So the other day I went to a friend's house and he cooked lasagna for me for dinner. This is his first time cooking for me. I commented on his lasagna:" It's a bit plain but it's good."

"the beef is ALL salty and the veggies are all supposed to be plain!!" he responded in a obvious pissed way. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the subtlity of this emotion shift". and I went on to comment the crust got a little burnt.

"It's supposed to be like that!!!" he responded in a very stiff voice. and I didn't sense this subtlity as well.(I know I am stupid!!!)

So for the whole night, he was totally pissed but I didn't know.

My confusion was that what was possibly wrong with my comments. I supposed everyone likes friends to be honest to them and what really bothers me was that he could be so pissed just by my comments on this plain cooking. If my friend commented on my food being plain or overcooked, that just would impossibly piss me off in any way!!!! I will be glad to admit it and do better next time. So what's the big deal? Your cooking can't be plain? That's considered to be having no manner? huh..... I seriously doubt this lame accusation.

Joke-Jan

Me: What's the best and quickest way to become popular?
A: To audit in American Idol Auditions.
Me: No, I mean, to become popular in terms of grand total personal assets.
A: To be the head of the Fox Department of Advertise.
Me: Don't you wanna be popular?
A: Of course, I do. I will be replacing Simon soon.
Me: So you will take care of me if I audit, right? Well, at least you won't sprank the shit out of me like Simon always does.
A: There will be other two professors with me. They replace Randy and Paula.
